Lessons from my Accounting class

Last night, my third term in Graduate school ended. It was indeed a memorable and challenging term for me (just like the first two terms). My Management Accounting class is the best class I had so far. Aside from having very very cool and smart classmates, I have the sweetest, motherly and knowledgeable professor. I have learned not only the different cost concepts, activity-based costings, CVP relationships and other nose bleed accounting terms (at least for me haha!) but also I have learned a lot lot more about life. Our professor always and I mean always relate accounting to real life lessons. She would give us pieces of advice and she would always make us feel really special. She would always reiterate to us to value and make the most out of our MBA education. I have scribbled some of the life lessons/ insights she shared to us:
1. Are you still happy? If your answer is doubtful, then it's time for you to think and make yourself happy. If you are still not happy, then it's time for you to move on.
2. When you do what you want to do, you will excel -- without effort.
3. You cannot simply push something to a person.
4. When settling down, always marry your bestfriend. We are all mature people here. I tell you, when you are older, sex and passion will fade. That is why it is more important to have someone who will laugh with you -- someone you can talk to about anything, even the most absurd things.
5. Life will give you so many colors. Life is like those marbles (She gave us marbles on our last day of class). It is colorful, fragile and it's a circle. Remember that you won't always be on the top. Life is so fragile. Live it well. We will only pass this life once. Be sure to make it grand. Life is so fragile. Handle it with a prayer.
6. Isn't it ironic that older people bear grudges in their hearts? We should learn how to be always kid at heart. Kids will change our life's perspective.
7. Your life is in your hands. Don't allow other people change you. Don't allow your ambition to make you someone you are not.
8. Always learn how to forgive.
9. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith first. The trust part will come later.

Those were some of the things that she taught us. On our last day, she also told us a story that gave us a bigger perspective in life.

Thank you Ms. Marivic Manalo. You are indeed an inspiration. Thank you for the accounting lessons that I'm sure would help me in the corporate world, but more importantly thank you for the life lessons as well.

And to my fellow Accounting classmates, you definitely rock!!! Cheers to the group studies, assignment-making, cramming, Final paper making (haha it was indeed challenging) and here's more challenges to come.

What kept me busy

I have abandoned this blog for quite some time now. The reasons? Acads. Eeeewr. Hahaha! Kidding aside, I really don't have anything to rant about. and, I've been busy with a LOT of stuff - MBA, friends, work, Kumon, lovelife, etc...etc. I love my life right now -- Never been this happier and contended. Plus, finally no drama and complications. :)
